The Bar and the Prison
Gothic-style building constructed around 1336 which incorporated two important functions 1) “la Curia”, which was the head office of the criminal justice system, and 2) the prison which housed the condemned criminals.
In “La Curia” (the Court) observe the facade which faces the Plaza de Jaume I (previously the Plaza Gra) and its large, gothic windows which have been restored. The facade’s interior features an antique, exceptionally well-carved corbel.
The prison, to the north, has an oval-shaped doors and two barred windows in its facade. Inside, individual cells are distributed along the patio. Interesting works of graffiti written by prisoners from different periods have been conserved.
