The Gallarda Gateway, at the base of a rectangular tower or gothic tower-gateway, was the eastern entrance to the fortified enclosure of Castelló. It is found in the Mill’s irrigation channel, which made use of the old moat  at the most well preserved section of the wall, and forms part of the late medieval lay out, it was renovated in the 13th and 14th centuries. This fortified area can be seen on the outskirts of the city, next to the cathedral apse.
